Recipe:
- Build in a chilled cocktail mixing glass
- 2 oz high proof bourbon
- 2 demerara sugar cubes
- 1 oz. of club soda (half initially and half after stirring)
- 5 dashes angostura bitters
- 2 dashes orange bitters
- Cocktail spoon of Luxardo cherry syrup
- Stir for 15 seconds to fully chill
- Strain and serve in chilled rocks glass
- Express orange peel over rocks glass
- Garnish with a Luxardo cherry and orange peel
Why it works:
First off, this might be my favorite cocktail to make, so I normally mix doubles. The reason this version is much better than most other versions is that the demerara sugar really elevates the mouthfeel while the club soda helps carry the smells to your nose. NOTE: its better to leave the cherry out than to use an inferior one.
